How come Valkyria Chronilces 2 and Okamiden weren't released on the ps3?

Or a traditional console, for that matter. I loved both the originals, but I don't see the game being that great when switched to a hand held. I really hope to see one of them (at least Okamiden) ported to the ps3, 360, or wii, but I'm not holding my breath 🙁

It won't happen. Okamiden didn't do so well on the PS2 and Capcom basically said a true sequel was unlikely. I think by upping the cute factor, it appeals more to the DS's target demographic.

VP2/3 is probably a poor attempt to salvage the PSP

Okamiden was probably easier and cheaper to make than a real sequel

Because Sony hates us, each and every one 🙁

But seriously, I really need to get back to playing VC 1 on my PS3 once I finish up Fallout New Vegas on the PC....

I don't know about Okamiden, but Valkryria Chronicles likely moved to the PSP (the third game in the series is also coming on the PSP) because sales weren't big enough for it to make money on the consoles. Japanese RPGs in general are moving to the handhelds. The PSP and Nintendo DS are much cheaper to make games for.

Thanks for the responses. So what you guys are telling me is that the games sold poorly, so they were moved to hand-helds which are cheaper to develop for and have a wider audience. Doh 🙁

What about Sony allowing psp games to be played on the ps3? Is that feasible, or is it too difficult and expensive to be worth doing?

I suppose it's feasible through emulation, but would be about as difficult as emulating the PlayStation 2 completely in software. There are some downloadable games that can be played on either the PSP or PlayStation 3, but that's the limit of compatibility between the two systems.

What you can do though is connect a PSP to a TV, and optionally use a PlayStation 3 controller (with a PS3) to play the game. Much the same as if you were playing the game on your PS3, but you'd need a PSP obviously.

I don't know about about VC, but Okami makes much more sense on the DS then it ever did on a full console. Drawing with a controller was silly, but with a stylus it's entirely natural. I'd be more surprised if they DIDN'T make one for the DS.

I suppose it makes sense, but I didn't really have any issues with it. And I think it'd make just as much sense on the Wii (and now Move and to a lesser extent Kinect).

Maybe they'll make a true sequel, who knows. Not sure how it would end up with Clover shut down. Okami is one of those greatly underrated games. At least on par with the best of the Zelda series. That's a rare feat.

Okami was great and a DS game based on the same thing would be even better.

That's exactly what Okamiden is. A successor to Okami made for the DS. It released in Japan last month, but we wont see it until sometime in March, if I remember correctly.

March 15 according to that great god of the internet, Wikipedia. Famitsu game it a 34 out of 40. Very respectable. It's literally the only reason I kept my DS. Would have gotten rid of it long ago otherwise.
