this thread is open:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=52&threadid=1793439&enterthread=y
Topic Title: Capitol Police arrest Cindy Sheehan
Topic Summary: criminals causing disruption

This thread is locked:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=52&threadid=1793706&enterthread=y
Topic Title: Cindy Sheehan arrested for wearing an anti-war shirt and other "unlawful" conduct.
Topic Summary: None

The first thead has no link and the poster wrote this:
Breaking news on CNN.... Maybe she was partycrashing the sotu

The second thread has a link and quotes from the link. It has real information on what happened. Yet it gets locked.
The first thread draws a conclusion in the topic summary from no facts and the thread is open.
The second thread asks a question based on the facts in its link and yet its locked.

I really wonder how it is determined which thread is open and which is locked?
Respectfully submittted.

They are basically a repost. My guess is whichever one was created first gets to stay.

Yep, although the 1st thread's OP is almost devoid of useful content . . . it was still 1st.

Because it is a Repost it is like you don't even scan the first page much less do a search.
