Why drink milk when soy milk is more nutritious? Yes, milk contains calcium, but it also has much more fat than soy milk. There really is no benefit to drinking milk when there are much better substitutes out there.

I don't LIKE milk, but use 2% on my cereal. MY wife is lactose intolerant, and we've been thru most of the "alternative milk's " available, and she prefers the taste of Lactaid, can tolerate it with only a little gas...<pheeew> and I can use it in a pinch...
Soy milk SUX, and rice dream tasted unpleasant to me...but then again, flavored milk for cereal seems odd anyway...and had an odd "feel' when I drank it. Probably won't try it again...They can call whatever chemical conglomeration they want "MILK", but that doesn't make it milk...

I think 2% looks healthier than that Rice Dream.. 8g protein vs 1g protein per CUP.. And, there's always 1% or skim milk which has even less fat.
And the nutritional value of spinach is different than that of steak... No sense comparing two entirely different consumables though.Originally posted by: morkus64
Depends on how you look at protein... a lot of people eat too much protein, which can damamge your liver and actually cause loss of bone density. The more important factor, i think, is fat. Milk has more bad fat than rice milk has total, and most of the fat in rice milk is actually pretty good for you (poly and monounsaturated fats can be good for your heart). The B12 is a plus too.

You're showing your bias, btw, in using 2% milk for the comparison.
