How come political correctness doesn't apply to religous groups/beliefs?

Say something critical of any fringe group, regardless if it's true, and you get stomped down.

Say anything against a relgious group or someone's relgious beliefs and it's the wild wild west.

Anytime you mention Catholics on this board the anti-God zealots come out of the woodwork and accuse all priests of being pedophiles.

What gives?

Can someone explain why there's a double standard?

Don't believe me? Here's a sampling:

"Catholic Schools? Bwuahahaha.. Yeah if you want to educate them to feel guilty about sex and life in general. Are you a Priest just looking to recruit some new "Meat"?"

"I think having to go to those after school talks with a Catholic Priest if you screwed up in School would be motivation to do well in school. {That and wanting to keep you pooper air tight)"

'"Smoke this pole" - It's a touching story as young boy struggles to be fit in. Told as seen through the eyes of a wise old Catholic Priest."

I think you get the idea.

The great thing about PC people is they can pick and chose their victims.

I go to Catholic school. All the Jesuits there are very smart and can probably be described more closely as theologians. I'm not a Catholic myself, but I respect those who are.
