I think most of us agree that trade agreements have been historically bad for US jobs. We seem to always end up with the short end.

When I was in Thailand last month I couldn't believe the amount of new cars on the road. It seems that they have a lot of disposable income that they never had in the past. Restaurants were full and people were definitely spending money.

The middle class is most definitely growing in SE Asia.

The TPP, or Trans-Pacific Trade Partnership is an absolutely horrible treaty. I'm white collar, not union, and ALL the US carmakers are up in arms about it. It's going to deregulate the import of cars from many countries that enthusiastically apply double standards to us already, like Japan. So we'll no longer be able to tax their imports as much, but they'll still use unethical and immoral practices (like 'safety' inspections that lock the vehicles up for months) to stop us from doing business over there.
