How come no one is willing to say the real reason why Yao Ming is starting in the All-Star game?!

I don't really care, but I hate how everyone is trying to avoid talking about this. It ain't racist, it's the freakin truth.

Yao is almost a shoe in for ROY. he's got charisma, his commercials are GREAT and you don't have to be a chinese to appreciate any of these facts.

Outside of Shaq, name 3 centers you'd take over Yao Ming RIGHT now, never mind what he'll be in 2 or 3 seasons.

if you add in his potential, he is truly a phenom.

I tihnk that yao ming appeals to the fans, he has an attitude that seems to go with a lot of people. he isn't bad skill wise too...not saying he is as good as o'neal yet, but he's good.

that was the one i was thinking of. i think he does another commercial too, just can't remember it off the top of my head. it's on the tip of my tongue though. you know how that is.

Yes I am a Laker fan, but in all honesty I don't care that he's not starting. I'm not a huge Shaq fan in particular.

Yao Ming is a great player. He is puttting up good numbers and deserves to be in the all-star game. However, he is still nowhere near the caliber of Shaq to start before him...

I don't know if I can persuade anyone that I don't really care about whose starting in the All-Star game, but rather the fact that everyone is avoiding talking about it.

Shaq is a better player at this point in time.
Shaq has better game/show than Yao still at this point in time.

And still to win the ballot by such a huge amount? His marketability is good point though. But honestly, I don't see how anyone cannot deny the Asian (more particular the Chinese community) swaying the vote greatly. THere are tons of Chinese people who never followed basketball but watch Yao Ming games and such...

There has always been the impression that Shaq doesn't do it on skilll but on raw power.

We did a list once about 2 months ago, where they listed all the Number 1 draft choices for like 20 years. of those i think Yao stands at the VERY top. there were a lot of #1 flops. Yao is definitely all he's hyped up to be and more.

Laker haters need something better to do than accusing of everyone. This had nothing to do w/ being a Laker fan, I discussed some of this lightly with fellow LA Laker fans that were Chinese.

Team Yao is fielding at least five proposals a week from companies seeking Yao to endorse their products, Sanders said

Yao is EXTREMELY popular here in the US. it's not just china and chinese americans.

You don't sign deals with Nike, Gatorade and Visa just because you have fans in China.
