Do they skip in the same spots during the songs? If you, your tracks recorded some pops while encoding(like a scratched record).

If that's the case, use error correction when ripping, and make sure your mike is on mute.

the songs don't skip in teh same spot. its nto just a few songs that do this...its all of them.

i'm pretty sure this wasn't happening a month ago. i've always had icq on while playing mp3s. this has only happened recently.

any other reason why this happens?

it could be that soundcard of yours...as much as i'd like not to insult it, i can't help myself...it's garbage.

if u can, try dropping in another soundcard or use onboard audio (removing your sb crap! of course)...if it doesn't skip, u know it's the sound card.

Make sure you give winamp high priority.

Right-click on winamp's title bar, go into options, preferences or whatever, and look for a slider.

Grinch ;) (i like sayin it now)

his card ain't the best.. but i have the SBPCI 128 in my grams comp.. and her MP3's NEVE skip,, unless of course it is a bad track..

if infact it is the card.. it has to be a bad one..

i am sure a t-birdy 1000mhz can handle a little 3 meg MP3 right ;) :)

tech nerd w/ glasses and yellow skin (let out bodiless for length purposes), i'm not referring to the card individually, but the via+sblive issues or the sblive+win2k driver issues...

the sblive can handle it...onboard audio can handle it..any pci audio card shoudl be able to handle it...but he may be having some sblive compatbility issues...

Likely PCI bus.
First thing to do is make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card...
