Hi, based on the system i have and i am using Omega's latest driver.

for example, 1st i bench i got 17000, 2nd(without reboot, just hit the benchmark button right away), i get 16700, 3rd time 16500..

why is it? isn't it suppose to get a higher score one 2nd attempts and 3rd?

A westerly breeze..

jk, it may be the amount of processes running in the background. Make sure no other programs are using CPU cycles or consuming memory. I always restart my system everytime I start benching.

sounds like a memory leak maybe. close everything but explorer and then try

and also..what settings are you running at to get a 17k score on a 9800 pro...not default thats for sure

Well windows is always fastest right after a reboot. Even with XP's superior memory management some resources are lost along the way and are not regained until restart. I don't know all the technical details but this just seems to be the default behaviour of windows operating systems. Older Microsoft OS's were really bad like 98 or NT4 which would have to be restarted frequently to keep the system running quickly. Even our Windows 2000 Servers at work respond faster after a fresh reboot than if they have been running for a while.

Why is system restore worthless? Ive kinda been grateful as hell that it has been turned on when things have suddenly all gone horribly wrong. It has saved me alotta hassle a few times in the past. Does it kill alotta resources or something by 'running' in the background?

Yea ive noticed this as well as someone who used to be in the habit of rebooting like once a week. Lately whilst ive been going through my UT2k4 phase, playing it in all my spare time >>> i see these 'jitters'/jerkiness in gameplay at regular intervals if i have not rebooted prior to playing. But as soon as i reboot and play from a fresh start >>> no jitters.
