How come my 12x10x32 Plextor only comes up as 4x max in Nero?

If my version of Nero just old or something?
I think my burner also comes us as 4x max write speed in Adaptec. Anyone know whats up?

is it after you put in media, sometimes the media can only handle a certain write speed...

Plextor can burn most cheap media at 12X fine but when it comes to cdrw media it can only burn at what it is rated at.

Yup, CD-RW media are keyed for a certain speed and do not allow burning above that speed. While CD-R media can be burned (with varying success) at a speed higher than the design speed, CD-RW media do not allow this. The majority of CD-RW media that I have found is still 4x, though you shouldn't have truoble finding higher speed CD-RW discs if you look a bit. More than likely this is the problem.
