Hey guys,
I recently replaced the AS2 on my mobile barton with AS5. The temps dropped maybe 3 or 4C max. When I had the AS2 on, my 35w 2200+ mobile barton refused to be stable at 2.4ghz at less than 1.75Vcore... with the AS5, my barton is now hitting 2.4ghz with only 1.7Vcore completely prime stable. I'm gonna try and push it even lower but my question is: "what gives?" I've had this processor for about a month and it's been overclocked since day 1. How come it can suddenly handle a lower core voltage? The 3-4C lowering of temps can't possibly affect the core voltage can it? And before you ask, I didn't remove anything from my system since I got it... in fact I added an extra ram stick AND a tv tuner.

::Edit:: Errr.. actually I did have an accident tho. I was handling a 3 pin fan connector that was hooked up to the psu while the computer was running and it accidentally hit a pair of scissors on my desk and shorted out... a spark flew and it shut down the system instantly. scared the bejesus out of me. It wouldn't turn on for about 10 minutes but then it just booted and worked fine... thank god for a good psu (TT Purepower 480W). it's been about 2 weeks since that incident... no problems... doubtful this had anything to do with my voltage change.

its a fairly comeon occurance its called brunin. my chip when I got it would max out at 2.55 at 1.9V now it will do 2.7 at that voltage prime stable where it would flake out aftter 30min when I got it at this speed.

since I'm on air cooling agian i'm running at 2.5 at 1.75V. but even here I gained some because I used to ahve to run 1.8V at this speed
