How come im getting such poor overclocking results?

I don't get why my setup isn't giving better results, I have the MSI Pro2-a with a factory unlocked duron 700 and 512mb pc133 ecc sdram(tried with ecc feature both on and off). My temperature is in the 38-43C range, right now the best I can do is 900mhz at 9*100 with 1.675V. I can't oc the multiplier at all without stablility problems, and at 9.5*100 or higher win2k won't boot no matter how high I push the core voltage. If I wasn't running such a solid setup in terms of clean power and such with 450 enermax and a UPS by APC I wouldn't be as disappointed in the results I am getting.

Thats still almost a 30% increase there skippy. As the old saying goes " Your Mileage May Vary!"

On a more constructive note, have you tried increasing the I/O voltage? i went from 3.4 to 3.5 and this allowed me much more stability at higher speeds.

hey, u got a 200mhz increase but your voltage is only at 1.675. most people when they try to get a gig from durons have to end up going ~1.85 volts and the I/o voltage to 3.45. so you might want to try that, but not too shabby.

Try upping your both your voltage and your i/o voltage up to 1.8 and 3.4 respectively. I have also had the problem with the 9.5 multiplier not working. Don't worrry about it too much. The 10 works perfectly fine, (haven't tried higher but will soon as soon as I order my new hs/f)

??? A 200MHz increase isn't a poor overclock, and it's not like every Duron out there is going to hit 1GHz. There may be a few things though:

What cooling are you using?
Have you tried upping the FSB?

I have tried 100-110 fsb, all are non-postable except 100-107, of these, 100-103 are capable of booting 2k and none except 100(of course) are any stable. I used these on all multiplier from 7 to 10. The 10 multiplier have never been postable no matter what the fsb or the voltage, i/o or core. The 9.5 will post but won't boot 2k. My temps are usually in the lower to mid 40C, and to be honest, I only have like one and a half fan, one 80mm aimed directly at the heatsink and about 4 inches away and then of course the stock hsf, the side panels on InwinQ500N is removed. I don't think more cooling will be useful because its not a stablility problem where more cooling would help, it simply won't work at anything above 9*100. This must be its limit because it runs fine at 9*100 with even as little as 1.650V and hits a wall at like 909mhz(9*101). Anyways, I am just shooting for the 1ghz mark as a trophy thing not that I care that much for the extra speed.
