How come I don't have a "security" tab under a file/folder's properties?

(I am running XP Professional) How come I don't have a "security" tab under the properties of my files/folders? All I have is "make this folder private" checkbox under the "sharing" tab which I can only check with the 'My Documents' folder. What gives? I remember back in NT/2000 you could set permissions on everything, right? Why can't I do it now?
 
Sorry about the ignorance....I found Jfall's FAQ that explains a lot about XP, including the "simple file sharing" thing. Oops!
