How come I can't search for the &?

I tried to do a search for "AT&T", and the search came up with no results. I read in one other thread in Forum Issues something about search results needing to be 4 characters or more. I assume this meets that criteria. Is it just the & anyways, or are there a set of characters that won't work in search results?

If its a full text search the full text engine will ignore it, all full text systems are phrase based so that kind of thing is not going to fly. Try AT&T* if you are a subscriber.

Oddly, if you search for "&", the HTML code for the ampersand sign, some results return but not necessarily any having either the sign or the code for it in the content or the source. 🙂

Uh, google handles & fine. I searched for AT&T and S&P on google and got the expected results.
