How come I can't save jpg

i can't seem to save jpg files from the internet into my computer as jpg. they only save as bmp. every once in a while my computer does that. yes, i'm sure they're jpgs cause I checked the link and the properties. i dont have the option to change the file type from bmp to anything else

Try clearing your IE cache.

Yeah, it's a well-known IE cache issue. Clear it out, and then make sure it is set to something relatively small. There is a number that it has to be less than, and the problem goes away. I forget the number, though. I set mine to 50 megs and it has had no noticeable negative effect on performance. The problem with .jpgs has not recurred since.
