I am at my dorm and I can post fine on my computer and when I log on my father's computer. It says I am forbidden to post. Is this a safeguard or a bug in the system?

Are you using AOL or another banned ISP when logging in from your dad's computer?

3. If you receive a message saying your E-Mail address is banned, you can contact the forum moderator to question why. Below is a list of E-mail services that were banned due to abuse, and will not be re-activated upon user request.

AOL
Bigfoot
Excite
Gotoworld
Hotmail
Nightmail
Whitehouse
Yahoo
All domains operated by portofevil.com, aka evilemail.com

4. In addition to the above, all of AOL's system is banned from the forums; this includes their IP addresses. This means that even if you sign up with a different E-mail address, you will not be able to post if you connect to the internet using their service.

Cipherous,

How old is your dad? It might be a function of the special fuseTalk old people block. Just kidding.:) Look at the ban list that Narzy just posted. Does he use AOL?

The AOL thing is kind of a drag, as I've been forced to use AOL occasionally (my parents use AOL, so when my main connection goes down I hop on AOL).
It would be nice if established members could get around the AOL block. I mean, clearly I'm not another GUTB, right? ;)

Maybe this is a subscriber issue. Can subscribed users log in from AOL? That'd be a good incentive to subscribe!

If they paid the subscriber fee I would think that it would be pretty clear that they weren't just trolls, and if they were then they lose their $30.
If this would be too hard to implement on the server end, then nevermind.

I think part of the problem came in when they would try to implement it. I read in a thread a couple weeks ago that it wouldn't be happening.

The problem is not the individuals who caused the original problems. It is AOL. Unlike virtually every other major ISP, when we asked for their help to control their members who were abusing our forums, they did nothing. That is why AOL's entire IP address range is banned. No matter what your email address, you cannot post on our forums while logged onto AOL. Sorry, but we cannot separate these IP addresses for the subscription service.

That sucks a MAJOR fatty. You could at least COMPLETELY block any AOL users from even looking at the site, maybe people with AOL would start getting pissed and make phone calls, then they wouldent have a choice but to help.
