It's such a pain. Sometimes it works fine but often it does not. And I can't figure out what the pattern/trend is.

This is the error message I just got:

The transfer request has timed out; the file will not be sent.
Make sure that your Buddy is using the latest version of AIM.
Changing your settings in the Firewall preference may help.
Also both you and your Buddy may need to adjust the settings of the firewall software on your individual networks.

Does anybody know wtf is wrong with this stupid program?

other than it's made by AOL? :)

Is it with a certain friend? Firewalls DO have something to do with it, and if you are behind a router or NAT of any form, the program may be seeing your 'wrong' local IP making the transfer fail instead of your real internet IP. It happens to me, but I use Trillian, which senses it after a fail and resends with the proper IP.

I dunno, but I agree that AIM is pretty piss poor. Everytime I close AIM down using the systray it says that it has generated errors on close, which can't be good. Also, earlier I signed on, and had it run in the background as usual, after about 5 minutes some audio was heard, I'm like WTF is this sound comin from, well it came from the ad banner from the AIM dialog, the audio lasted a few minutes too.
