How come breaking news never interrupts the adverts?

So I'm watching Agents of SHIELD, which I love, and there is a sudden break about a shooting in Manhattan. OK, that sucks but did you really need to interrupt the show?

I figure that's the end of it, but no, about 20 minutes later another one that seems to go on forever talking about how the FDR is shut down and how it's affecting traffic.

How is this helping anyone? Do they think that people watch tv in their cars? Maybe if you've got a chauffeur, sure. But come on.

I really believe that they do this just to hype their evening news shows.

I also notice that you never seem to get any breaking news when the bills are getting paid. Quite a coincidence that.

Yeah, the advertisers are paying so they get what they want.

What really annoys me is Wolfe Blitzer and his constant use of "stand by" and "breaking news" and similar nonsense every fucking day. It's like he has some special justification to use hyperbole for his show. Really can't take him...

The bigger question, is why do we get entertainment details fronted as news?

I couldn't give a damn about who won the X Factor; what I want to know, is who's waging war on whom, who raped whom, the latest endeavors in political corruption, etc.

Y'know, actual news.

The solution of course is to forbid all forms of advertisement as illegal propaganda and manipulation. Then, people can just pay for the content or they can pay taxes and stations can be funded publicly.

People are already paying for cable AND putting up with watching commercials. What makes you think they'll let go of that gold mine? Absolutely SHOCKING that now more than ever people are cutting the cord and moving to on demand content. /s
