How cna i tell what my framerate is in any particular game

I can't seem to finda ny in game menus for showing the framerate im getting... specifically UT2004, chronicles of riddick..... is there a 3rd party addon that runs in ithe backgroundthattracks this...SORRY for complete noob question...appreciate any help

cs 1.6/source/dod:
net_graph 1 thru 3
cl_showfps 1
fps_max make sure its on what max you want anything over 100 and your gonna need developer 1 on
