How close to HL2 are the CS source graphics ?

Bought a very nice 19" LCD yesterday ( a Realsync from PCClub.com ) and although the sales people " thought it was a 20ms response time LCD I found out it was a 25ms one. Now as a LCD it's excellent and didn't noticed any motion blurring until I played the CS source from the HL2 engine. The players blurred quite a bit as well as some objects lying on the ground as I ran by them. Very noticeable ... bothersome in fact.

But other games I ran like Doom3 and Far Cry didn't show any of this at all. For those of you " in the know " how close is the CS source to the HL2 engine that you know of ? Do you think I'll experience the same type of blurring issue in HL2 as the CS source ?

Thanks for any info.

As far as I know, it's quite close, telling from the preview videos and my own experience with CS:S, and of course common sense since they use the same engine.

However, on my CRT monitor I don't notice one bit of this blurring so I'm not sure what's happening with your setup...

Mine is a LCD with 25ms response time ... not a CRT like yours. My 19" CRT had no issues at all but I was ready to go LCD but I might return this LCD and go back to CRT for another year and see what quality improvements ( and lower prices ) LCD's have made by then. Thanks for the reply.

What I'm confused about is why you only see this blurring on CS:S, and not Doom3 or Far Cry. All FPS have some pretty erratic, fast movements, I'd say especially D3. When I had an LCD, everything pretty much blurred equally, though it was a slower one.

Ya... that's why I was asking about the HL2 engine and CS source. It is pretty strange. Maybe there is blurring in the other games but not noticable enough. But I really noticed it in the CS source game play. Oh well, I can wait till next year. Back to the 19" CRT.
