It will probably be called the 2060, and Elfear is probably right. I originally thought we'd see Volta in Q1, but with an imminent release of a new Pascal card (albeit not a new chip), that probably means we're looking at >6 months from now. I'm guessing May of 2018.

and release date vs general availability date vs general availability not at insane pricing date , this could easily take you into next generation and next generation and next generation

I was waiting for Vega, 1H 2017, 2Q 2017, well we release something (but not gaming!) the last day of Q2, well gaming would be soon (August), well, we sold out and everything is nowhere near 399 Vega 56, AIB cards in September (wait, October! wait, may be November!) . So the story never ends... : ) if you want it, buy it.

All pointers show Q2 2018 so far, but even if it's somehow magically sooner, say early March, it's only going to be the big Volta, probably additional 2 months or so for mid range cards.

Vega 11 should be out within 6 months considering it supposedly taped out months ago. It should be the new 680. I imagine we won't see a high-end refresh till 2018 though.

Is there going to be a lower tier rx 64 like a rx 45 or something? I am not spending $450-$500 on a gpu right now. Maybe $300 max. If not then I will just go purchase a GTX 1060

That seems like a logical step for AMD and there have been rumors to that effect but no ETAs as far as I've seen.

The RX580 is around the same performance as a 1060 6GB so that option exists in your price range if you're wanting to use FreeSync.

I was thinking gtx 1060 because right now at newegg the top tier version from evga is $75 less then the top tier version of the MSI rx580. Unless you guys can find me a better deal?

Is your sig correct that you have an RX480? If so, neither the 580 or 1060 will be an upgrade.

Your rx 480 is only a year old and is equal or almost as good as a 580/1060. So unless you're getting a new monitor at higher res/144hz etc.I really don't see the point in getting a new card right now. Almost all cards above $200 are overvalued right now. Wait and see what shakes out next spring/summer or go to a Vega (good luck lol), 1070 or 1080/80ti.

If this is a "I need a second card and will buy new for me and hand down the 480" situation. Welcome to the suck of the current video card market. Same advice as above applies there only I'd buy the cheaper 1060 you mentioned so you have both brands of cards in case one runs a game better than the other.

If you can't wait and you want an upgrade, you should get a 1070/Vega 56 or better.
I totally would have gotten one of those cards if I had more money. For now though it is all said and done as I purchased a EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SC for $239.99 After MIR. That is $80 I saved by not buying a RX 580 as it was going for $320 at newegg and $315 at B&H. The GTX 1070 and RX 54 is just to far our of my league price wise at this moment in time.
Its all good cause in Cemu the Nvidia Card is like 65% faster in that app then the Radeon cards and I plan to use this app. Plus also this will give me time to save up for the next iteration of cards in spring or summer.

Nah man, sorry but the video card market has basically died. We are on a set, concrete upgrade path which is representative of most monopolies. Nvidia dictates the pace of progression now, they have no incentive to improve performance at ~250. In years of yore, a ~300mm die like the 1070.. FIFTEEN MONTHS after release would have been at that price point. And don't blame crypto at this point, supply has completely caught up.
