Actually, that depends on the state. The age of consent varies from state to state. I believe it's 16 in most of them, some are lower than that. Here's a handy chart:Originally posted by: GoPackGo
How many 18 year old high school seniors are there? According to modern laws, if they are having sex with their 16 year old girlfriend, they are a predator and deserve to have their lives ruined forever.

Did you know that topless dancers can be arrested and convicted of a sex crime if they violate a 3 to 6 foot rule while dancing? That escorts who are for the most part harmless are convicted as sex offenders when caught in their trade?
Yes, I have real issues with the scum bags who rape women, or molest and rape children and would like for all americans to be totally aware of who might be living next to them, but there are some who are not a threat as the authorities would have you believe. When looking up the offenders see what it was that they were actually convicted of.
Just my 02 on the subject.

This information is about as valid as where the Commie's lived in the '50s. The government's definition of who a sex offender is very overbroad resulting in many essentially "false positives" in these disclosure programs.
One person I personally know was a college age kid who maintained a ftp site with porn on it. Some kiddie porn got on it-he claims without his knowledge but that's irrelevant. He's now branded as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
True sex offenders are the scum of the earth, but the hysteria of the Ashcroft/Bush administration went way overboard.

Unfortunately, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont do not currently provide addresses for registered sex offenders. Consequently, we are unable to provide adequate or meaningful information about sex offenders located in these states. We will add functionality that will allow searches by name and city in the future.

I have one within 3 miles, but none anywhere near my neighborhood. I'm lucky enough to live in a nice area.
