I have this friend who I met through my family. I now know her for 2 months now. She called and asked if I can lend her $1000 until next month.
To me a thousand is a still a lot of money to just lend to someone, I would only lend this to family members.
Even tho she is hot I didn't go with it!! BUT part of me thinks I could of helped her out, and I should of. The other part of me is thinking, smart man don't be a fool.

I should mention that the chances of her not paying me back is very slim. This is because her entire family is friends with my mom and do business together, she really couldn't rip me off.
Should of lent her the money ?

Don't borrow money from close friends, if you want them to remain that way.

I assume you meant "borrow their money", since that's the smallest edit I could do to make the sentence logical. The answer is that I usually don't borrow money from friends, but if I needed to I would only need to know that they weren't going to charge me ridiculous interest rates or break my kneecaps.

"for you to borrow them money"

Might I suggest taking a couple of remedial English classes?

Sorry "Lend". Borrow goes both ways in other languages I know, except English.

Well, the term, to borrow someone money, is used an awful lot in english, just not in the USA, i study abroad and I kinda get irritated everytime I hear it, though I can do nothing about it.

Married to them. I don't have any friends who are so hard up they would ask for money anyway...I suppose honestly if one came to me asking for it I would lend them some but only what I could afford to lose and I'd consider it internally as a charity.

Actually, my dad lent me a ton of money so I guess I'd have to lend him some if he asked (which wouldn't happen).

Her family isn't here now. I think she had car problems, but I still would think she has other closer friends to get money from !

I've never heard it said and I live in the UK.

Why couldn't she borrow from one of her family then? It's a huge imposition to ask for that much money from someone you've known two months.

The fact that she's coming to you indicates to me that she couldn't get it from anyone closer to her, and serious questions would have to be asked about why. I'd guess that she's borrowed too much from them already. There's no guarantee you'd get paid back in a timely manner, if at all. Unless you had $1000 you can afford to never see again, you did the right thing.

They're just giving you a hard time for not including pics.

"She called and asked if she can borrow $1,000 from me" would make perfect sense, so would "How close does a friend have to be to for them to borrow money from you?"

For me, anyone other than family would have to be close enough that I'm willing to do it even if I might never be paid back. For something smaller (under $100) I'd just give them the money.

The question you should ask yourself is will you be financially hurting if she doesn't pay you back the $1000? If it means the difference between you paying your rent, car payment or buying groceries if you don't get paid back by next month then the answer is no, don't lend the money. If it's money that if you never see it again will not cause problems for you then I'd say lend it.

People don't have to be close to send money. They can send it from anywhere in the world.

I mean I could afford to give her 1k and still spend the month no problem, but in case I am not getting it back I rather spend the money on a Wii and some upgrades for my ordinateur.
