How close did you spend your credit card towards its limit?

I made it last month on my statement:

New Balance: $2,499.59 (after finance charge)
The total credit limit is $2500 for that card. :)

For the past five years almost ALL my credit cards have been max'd out at least 90% which really lowers your credit score. So I tried really hard to resist some Hot Deals, managed to get my ratio of debts to limits down to 60%, didn't apply for any new credit for 18 months and my credit score shot back up.

$1,190 something of $1,200. 99%, or something like that. Currently sitting just below that.

I'll be making a $400 or $500 payment come Friday, then I'll promptly turn around & use the card to buy parts for a system I'm building. I hope to have it paid off by the end of September.

How can you check your credit score? I'm pissed because I missed a $13 payment when I was moving. If $13 screws up my score..., dangit.

Closest dollar amount: $3000 (current mastercard, limit: $3000)
Closest percentage: 12% ($650 on a $5500 visa)

...not bad for a 22 year old :)

I always pay off by cc fully by the due date. No F#cking way I'm paying 20% interest! I have taken it to 4 bucks of the limit once...

My interest rate is 11%. On a $4k CAN visa its up to about $3600 now, but thats unavoidable as I needed it for moving expenses. Normally I keep it as close to $0 as possible.

wow my citi card is 8.4% if you guys are paying 20% you are getting bent over.

Call them up and ask for a line increase if you are so close, they'll do it, just restrain from using the darn cards!!

I'm a college student, just got my first CC, I was glad to get 18% (most student CCs are 24+%)... I keep paying it off so I'm paying nothing tho :)

Uh which one?
Seriously though I'm sure I've had most of them near the limit and one's been there most of the year, currently down to about $1200 but transfered there at 5.9% so its the lowest rate of interest currently, minimum payments to pay the interest or so sometimes, though obviously that's not the best idea.
But sometimes it can't be helped, I've lived on a cc convenience check before so yes I like having them around.

I'm good at juggling my finances and have kept a decent credit rating despite being the poor bastard I am.
My brother on the other hand can't even use his one cc because he is useless at handling money.

I have two cards with 2k limits on each. I try not to spend more than a couple hundred on each. Sometimes I'll go over 1k on one.

Well, given that the limit is 10K, that's a lot. I don't think I've ever had the card over 1K, so I guess about 10%

All of them, 8 cards, to the top every month, but then I pay them right off, since I use them for business. If I could get just one card with a decent limit, of like 50-60k, then I would only need one.

Grace periods are cool, but don't go over the limit, as some charge some nasty fees for that, as well as cash advances.

On My other cards I am under 10%. Got a HD charge with a 80k limit, but only good at HD. I have less than $500 on it.

The closest I ever got to the max was when my CC had a limit of $800 as a college kid. Now the limit is $6800 and my balance rarely goes above $1000. I can't imagine putting $6800 on the thing.

Given a good payment history, won't they work with you?
