Gibson estimates in her book that 80 percent of the ingredients in U.S.-branded pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter drugs start out in either China or India.

“Food has been used as a weapon of war. Our medicines can be used like that, too,” she said.

China made a strategic decision to develop its pharmaceuticals industry and has succeeded, Gibson said, undercutting prices and grabbing market share from other countries.

“Penicillin is a good example,” she said. “We don’t make penicillin ingredients in this country anymore. That happened because Chinese companies came in and dumped it on the global market at a very low price. Now they are the largest producer of penicillin industrial ingredients in the whole world.”

“If we think the IV bag situation in Puerto Rico was serious, it pales in comparison with what could happen with any kind of hiccup with China,” he said.

Gibson agreed.

“I can think of nothing that would make us more vulnerable than shutting off all these drugs we depend on every day,” she said.

“Hospitals would become centers of chaos and death. We are not talking about expensive designer drugs. You couldn’t do surgery. You wouldn’t have anesthesia. You couldn’t provide dialysis."

Profit only matters, jobs Americans won't do, manufacturing including pharmaceutical types should be outsourced to the lowest bidder so the 1% can enjoy more profits while charging for products like if they were made in America.

While our profit only matters greedy corporate types are beholden to the daily stock price and next quarters results the Chinese are looking 5, 10, even 20 years down the road, in effect we are playing checkers while they are playing chess using our own immediate gratification greed against us.

While everyone is fixated on Russians stealing votes the Chinese are taking over critical strategic manufacturing assets including those in the important Pharmaceutical industry and Americans are handing it to them because of the brainwashing by corporate America that greed is good and profit only matters of which outsourcing for the lowest cost is a result of that mantra.

Stupid Americans deserve Trump, every bit of him, including our college educated so called liberal types who have forgotten that labor, not identity politics and social justice warriors, was the foundation of the Democrat party, now a former shell of itself known as Republican-lite.
