It looks like windows > A/C, but only slightly in a sedan (unfortunately they don't show the y-axis so we can't see how much). Page 15 of the above link proved it to me.

I hate being wrong, but will still use the A/C :)

I didn't see this post. But then again I didn't need to since I have been testing and confirming the results for 26 years. ;)
Do you think it is worth the money saved to not be as comfortable?

Assuming you drive half your 12,000 miles when the ambient temperature is above your comfort level and half below:

6000 miles at 29 mpg = 207 gallons x $2 per gallon = $414
6000 miles at 27 mpg = 222 gallons x $2 per gallon = $444

So you save $30 per year with the windows open vs. A/C on. Even if you drive 12,000 miles per year in the heat you only save $60.

Did you not read my first post in this thread?

Why is this an "are you cheap issue"? I personally prefer to have the windows down and I live in Texas. I will use the AC when I have passengers that prefer it and times when I want to cool down but for the most part I have the windows down whether it s Summer or Winter. I guess this comes from being older and growing up with my first two cars not even having AC. You have to remember that most cars from the 50s and 60 had no air or it was an option and not always a common one. I still have 4 classic cars and only one has AC and even though it is still in the project phase once it is finished the only reason I put AC in the car was the dehumidified defroster...which is MANDATORY in the humid climate of Houston. In my Lexus I usually have the windows down and the sunroof open unless the woman is with me. Sometimes these things just come down to personal preference.

In my case it has nothing to do with cheap. I enjoy driving with the windows down and find it preferable to using the AC so basically I only use the AC when I absolutely have to, like when it is raining or when I have passengers etc. I am a car guy and driving is an enjoyment for me and having the windows down is all part of that experience.

I run the air conditioner in my car with the windows down. When people bitch, I ask them how long they've been paying for my gas.
I like it that way.

I hate the windows down. I cant stand windy days and I dont understand why anyone would want to simulate that in their cars. It never really makes the car feel much better, especially if you are in traffic. Besides, if its 90 degrees out you're just blowing 90 degree wind over yourself. Crank on the A/C and its actually comfortable. Plus my car sometimes hurts my ears when the windows are all down. If there are a lot of buildings around or Im driving really fast I get a sort of an oscillating effect on my ears and it really bothers me.

I dont really care how much gas costs, nothing is worse than swamp a$$.

eventually you'd get used to it. if i have a car i'd just roll down the windows if im by myself. with other people, it's always AC of course.

i usually roll the windows down instead of using the AC unless its so hot i am dripping sweat. this is not because of the gas mileage but the performance drain.

If the temperature is over 65F, I have my a/c on. I hate driving with my windows down.

In my apartment, the thermostat stays at 65F.

Heh. I always drive with the drivers window at least cracked. I mean always. Could be snowing out. Could be raining. I can't stand not having fresh air. And I only turn on the AC when it breaks above 90. It's not the gas mileage I care about (could really care less about that), it's the drag on engine's performance.
