How careful do I need to be?

If I were going to take just the fan off of the heatsink on the CPU, how careful must I be to not crack the chip?

TIA

kinda depends on what cpu you are working on, but I have done it many times with K6-Cel-P3-Duron-T bird-and XP..never had a problem.

Just pay attention to what you are doing and remember its a fan not a transmission that you are working on.

Don't touch the heatsink while removing the clip. Try to manipulate the clip off it's hook by using a screwdriver. Push it down, then out.
