Still trying to figure out where HDCP helps and where it could hurt us.

Seems that hdcp and hdmi standards must be met from cable to nic card all the the way through the cpu, motherboard and video card and monitor to be in full compliance.

IF not in full compliance, is it better to have less hdcp devices or more?

Been googling foreever..

Anyone know how to make sense of any of this?

Was trying to decide if I might want the newest, greatest video cards from nVidia and Ati that have hdcp on the gpu, but.. now that the estimated price is over $900.. just learning more about this .. anyone have some good links..

1) Impact of HDCP on GPU on TV tuner card working with GPU
2) Impact of HDCP on being able to upconvert old DVDs to higher resolution and overcome macrovision limits of 480 i or p.. etc..

3) Need to have full HDCP and DRM compliance or.. still not a go for some viewing and recording..

I need help on this.. all Iam getting from Googling is sore eyes.
