How can you tell if it's a Barton?

I bought a Barton 2500 from NewEgg a while ago, which turned out to be DOA. I ended up having to RMA it through AMD, and I finally got my new processor in the mail today, but the CPU itself, and the heatsink look different (appearance wise) than the original Barton I had. The first one I got was tan, and the new one is green. The packaging says "With 333 MHz FSB", but otherwise there's no indication as to whether this is a Barton, or whether AMD is trying to pull a fast one on me.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Matt

PS: The longer version of the story is that after I RMA'd the DOA processor, AMD sent me back a Thoroughbred 2600, which is a slight upgrade in processor speed, but a downgrade in terms of the L2 cache. I took a chance and sent it back to them and said I would wait for the Barton 2500 to become available because they were apparently out of the Barton (or maybe just trying to unload to excess Thiroughbreds). The main thing that bothered me was the fact that they didn't ask me first before sending it, and since I ordered the Barton 2500 after a month of research, that's the processor I expected to use in my system. Anyway, my question is: would the extra 100MHz processor speed have a greater impact on the performance of my system than the 512K L2 cache?

The Barton does have the 512K L2 cache, but there's nothing on the packaging indicating what the L2 cache of the processor I got is. I guess my main concern revolves around the fact that the original Barton I bought was tan, and the new processor I got today is green. Are all Bartons tan, or does it depend on where and when it was manufactured (in which case I probably have a Barton that just looks different than the original one I got. Was I wrong to assume that each processor series (ie Barton, Thoroughbred) would be a different color?

Does your chip look like mine? Bartons have a longer core than other chips. I'm not sure what you can see from the box... it's been over a month since I've opened mine. :)

yeah, that's what mine looks like. I just wasn't sure if all Bartons were tan like the first one I got, and I didn't want to open it until I knew whether it was what I had asked them to send me, or whether they tried to pull a fast one on me. Thanks to everyone who replied.

The 2500, almost every 2800, 3000s, and 3200s are all Bartons. If you get anything eles send it back.
