How can you tell if HD cable is ATA 33, 66 or 100

Well if you dont the HD will run at ata33. The 66 and 100 have twice as many wires that are 1/2 as small and the ata 66/100 will have one of the plugs colored blue which plugs into the motherboard. Is your MB capable of 66/100?

And yes, my new MB (a7v266-e) will support ata-100 (finally) ;-)

Yes, they are the same. But for most general user, you won't feel the difference b/w 66 and 100 too much. You can tell if it is 33 to 100 though :)
