How can you tell if HD cable is ATA 33, 66 or 100

Do I need to buy a new cable for an ATA 100 hard drive ?

Well if you dont the HD will run at ata33. The 66 and 100 have twice as many wires that are 1/2 as small and the ata 66/100 will have one of the plugs colored blue which plugs into the motherboard. Is your MB capable of 66/100?

ATA66/100/133 are all the same cable.

Yes, they are the same. But for most general user, you won't feel the difference b/w 66 and 100 too much. You can tell if it is 33 to 100 though
