How can you stand using Hotmail?

I used to use Hotmail all the time, until the spam came in.

Everytime I make a new Hotmail account, it gets spammed. I'm sure that the addresses get leaked out somehow. I made accounts on several occasions, and haven't signed up for anything. Just left the account there, and two days later I get spam. I once logged into an account and got 155 in my inbox and 70 in bulk mail.

It's ridiculous.

How can any of you guys stand using it?

I know someone out there is using it.

me too. And considering I've had the address for 4years or so, the hassle of changing it is too great.

I use it, and hardly get any spam at all. I think the trick might be i have an underscore in my hotmail username, that's all I can think of.

Edit: My yahoo! mail account gets a steady stream of spam, the junk filter catches most of it though.

Hotmail sucks. They limit the blocks and the spammers just keep trying and trying, esp. if you have a name in the address (ex. joe123@hotmail.com) they can really pile it on. I setup one with yahoo, no spam at all.

hmmm that's odd. I have 2 hotmail accounts... one for friends, and one for signing up to places. The one to friends, not a single spam... and i've had that for over a year (except the occasional hotmail news, etc). The other one, i get like 50 a day, but that's ok since all of it is blocked.

hotmail isn't for main email, its for your spam email. anything risky asking for email addy gets hotmail since its spammed to hell anyways.

Because everyone has my hotmail address. Of course I'd never make a new one. I can't say enough bad about hotmail for new users. No reason on this planet anybody should sign up for a new hotmail account.

The same thing had me ditching mine last year after about 5 years of use. Really annoyed me. Also when they decreased the mb's of accounts it really sucked.

I had this class where everyone had to receive updates and meeting times via email, and everytime I sent one out to a hotmail address, it would return because their mailboxes were overflowing with spam. :disgust:

I have several yahoo and hotmail accounts.

I have one hotmail account that is a spam magnet. However I've set it up so that any e-mails that are not from people in my address book get tossed out. Not it's actually semi usable.

My yahoo accounts have been pretty much spam free. Even the one I use for newgroup posting.

Yeah. I've had mine for 3-4 years, and changing everything would suck.

I've had mine for about 5 years and it would be a big hassel to change it :/ Granted I do get my fair share of spam but I just delete it... not that big of a deal.

I don't.

I use my own webmail which has a 100MB limit and only costs $5/yr :)

I've had my Hotmail account for 3 years now. I never get any spam at all.

My account address is very cryptic and has many characters. I think this is why I don't get spam.
