How can you identify a valid DVD movie, from a copy?

I just picked up a used DVD at a well known music/video/book chain. Right away, I noticed that the cover artwork looked a bit faded, or lighter than usual. But, it was a movie I had been looking for, so I bought it (I can always take it back).

The movie is a Bond film, "Live and Let Die". The cover art does not match the version that is currently for sale in the 007 boxed set. It also has "DVD 9" on the DVD label, and a shiny silver sticker on the front of the cover that says "THX Superbit dts DVD 9 Original". It's stated as being a region 1 disc.

Also, the label on the DVD looks to be laser cut, as the copyright words, and the "DVD 9" is actually cut out so the silver shows. Looks like it would be hard to make one that good.

Anyone have any input on how I can find out?

And I believe this would be the correct forum for something like this?

Looks good, but honestly, the Bond DVDs are usually very high quality, and I've noticed some small artifacts here and there on this one..

How would you like to be sold a fake for $16? I think most people would care.

So take it back and buy it at a *real* store like Amazon or something. Problem solved.

I find it amusing how some people on ATOT are just naturally grouchy.
And yes, I probably will take it back. If you had read everything I said, you'd have noticed I already had mentioned returning it.

And BTW: I didn't purchase it from some hole in the wall crap store that sells porn and bootlegs.

Also, Amazon doesn't sell this title, unless you want to buy the $80 boxed set.

Generally, an originally cd and/or dvd is silver where the data is written.

I have yet to see a cd-r (hopefully the same applies for dvds) which has a silver side where the data is.

Can anyone confirm for the dvd-r?

I read your entire post before I posted anything.
