How can you access the primary module on the zv6005us notebook?

I have a friend with this notebook and he wants to upgrade to a gig of memory. Currently there are two 256 sticks installed, but the slots are not in the same location. We can only find the "expansion" one, and we're thinking the notebook doesn't like having 256 in the primary and 1 gig in the secondary. Where is that primary slot hiding?

Thank you, Arch. I am indeed that friend and as his message implies, I am in need of assistance. I recently purchased a gig stick of DDR333 PC2700 memory and I attempted to insert this module into the expansion slot (HP is evidently hesitant to let the customer easily access both bays as that would be a silly idea). After inserting the module (replacing the 256 chip that resided there), I rebooted and...there was no post. Nothing. Zip. Black screen. I had tried reinserting it in many ways and angels, naturally, but to no avail. It could be defective, yes, but I'm highly doubting it. Is there a problem with having a considerably larger amount of memory in the expansion bay than in the primary bay? Furthermore, how do I access the primary bay? The screws have been an absolute chore and nearly impossible to get undone, so I was wondering if anyone could guide me in where exactly to find this bay.

Thank you.

UPDATE: Well, thanks to the searching of Arch, we seem to have located an online replacement/removal/upgrade manual located at the following address:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00364919.pdf

Locate section 6-13 which is removal of the internal memory module which thus refers you to 6-8 (keyboard cover removal) and 6-11 (removal of keyboard itself). After removing the necessary screws, I can't for the life of me remove the "keyboard cover." I see the little clip above scroll lock, but the diagram is vague and I have no clue what to actually do in order to get it to unlock and in turn remove the keyboard allowing access to the primary memory bay. Any personal experience with the ZV6000 series or advice in general would be helpful.

Glad you found the document, it is common for the primary RAM slot to be under the keyboard.
In regards to removing it, the best I can recommend is to just take it slow and look at EVERYTHING. I assume the diagram says remove X screws, and pull in X direction. Well, if its not coming easily, try to feel what part of the keyboard is holding it down. Look in that area carefully; see if there are clips, screws, etc. Also, most keyboards have a cable running btwn it and the motherboard. Be careful of this and do not yank it out 😉

Wish I had more specific advice for you, but just take it slow and use your common sense; it'll come out 😉
