How can Windows boot into my account automatically and still have the locked screen?

I have one user account on my computer and I also have a password associated with it. Sometimes I like to turn on my computer and do other things before coming to it. However, the computer stops at the login screen. Is it possible for my computer to boot up completely but still have the login screen or for it to lock me out automatically?

@Dari: According to the first link you posted, the security of the setup in the second link can be compromised by holding down shift as the computer turns on. That disables all scripts on startup which means that the computer will auto login and not display a password prompt.

I was especially curious to know if anyone remembers what marketing name MS used when they advertised this as a built in feature of windows longhorn. (which was cut before it became vista). This btw is a feature available on linux.

I know I'm little late, but think this will be helpful to others in need. I've recently came upon a freeware tool Login Helper which does the job perfectly. This tool sets up the autologon, can autolock the PC after the login and can even turn off the monitor or activate the screen saver after the pc has been locked . You may check it if you are in need for autologon configuring again. Hope this info is helpful to others too.

looks good. And it can disable the shift override.
