How can that goofy auto journalist be doing ads for the ford freestar?

Ford has recently contracted this guy to do ads for their minivan. I know nothing of him but I assume, based on the credentials listed in the ad, that he does car reviews and the like? And now he's in Ford's backpocket? WTF?
