How can smart people be sooo dumb and illogical sometimes?

My friend, a Berkeley student with a high GPA, a great internship at Johnson & Johnson, very knowledgable about politics, sports, and other obscure subjects..who's not just a pure booksmarts secluded type of person..I also find him to be an extremely logical and capable thinker, today told me he ordered Heightmax.

It just doesn't make sense

Nah, he's currently an undergrad with plans of grad school.

Normally in situations like this, he would be the one calling out the person who bought this stuff like there was no tomorrow..
