How can people with large items hanging from their rear view mirrors drive safely?

I see cars on the road with different things hanging from the rear view mirrors. Some have jewelry such as necklaces, some have parking hangtags, others have stuffed animals, etc.

People are bad enough drivers when they can see well, but when part of their vision is blocked by these objects it's scary.

very true.

I have a parking hanging for one place that i work. It's large and would block my view so i keep it off until i park. It even says on it "do not drive with this on your mirror".

really?! i haven't seen one so obscured as to be unsafe...

It's pretty easy to have one of these block out a pedestrian or the turn signal of a car changing lanes.

Out of all the retarded things people routinely do while driving, I bet this one doesn't even register on the meter.

I drive with my parking hangtag on all the time. It obscures nothing. The idea is that you ACTIVELY look for things. If something is obscuring your view of a critical area, you more your head the 1mm to see around it. Then again, it only extends about half an inch below the body of the mirror itself.

I agree - sometimes I wish that the mirror wasn't even there. I'm tall and it can block my view.

I'm talking about the bigger ones that hang down much further. I'm sure you can see how an object that takes up lets say 6 inches or space below your mirror could block something important.

And i'm in California and see this all the time. ..... I guess there are a lot of law breakers out there, or i'm just driving on the wrong roads...
