How can OC void warranty?

I mean cpu can fry even without OC, is there a way the hardware dealer can tell you were overclocking and void your warranty? (if the chip is fryed what info can you get from it...?)

possibly, but how can they tell for sure I OC'ed? I mean they cannot physicly prove I OC'ed and not replace the chip...

That's about all they can do. The techs at these places are just like you and me. They hang out at the forums and read how to overclock, etc.

That said; if you're only overclocking by cranking up the front side bus, they're not going to be able to tell the difference between death by overclocking or death by normal power cycles or poor QC or improper cooling, etc.

Of course, if you overclock by pin modification, cutting or writing new traces, etc. kiss your warranty goodbye.
