"The workplace of America has never been as unfair for the average American as it is today."
Has he forgotten what it was like before Labor Laws when children were allowed or even forced to work 12 hour days for a percentage of what an adult would earn.

I am trying to keep an open mind during these primaries, but how can I respect a man that does even know US history.

i dont think he was talking about that timeframe - he probably meant from the 70's till today or at least in a 35 year olds (middle age voter )lifetime.

Now we're just nitpicking, I thought he said something almost Dean-like. ;)

Quixfire:

With your trenchant wit and perspicacity you have picked up on the issue that will send Kerry reeling in the polls. Expect Fox News to pick up your analysis within the next 20-30 seconds, at most!

Quix, I agree with your point. I don't want to turn this into a Bush Bash, but he too has a very limited understanding of some parts of history and geography. But remember, no one knows everything. The problem with politicians is that they often want to look perfect. Gerald Ford once said in a presidential election debate, "Poland is not a communist country." which at the time was most definitely not true. His oponent must have been Carter (memory fails on this point), who said, "Are you saying that Poland is not a communist country?" Ford, who had clearly made a misstatement that even he must have known was wrong, stuck to his instructions to "Look regal and confident." He affirmed that Poland was "not a communist country. The point is, the elections are about image. Sorry that Kerry showed his feet of clay.

I guess that is nothing. If you ask Pres. Bush, he would say "Is there a country called Poland? WoW. Dind no dat. Doznt Mattar"

:D

This thread is just dying for a Bushism of the day...

"One of the most meaningful things that's happened to me since I've been the governor?the president?governor?president. Oops. Ex-governor. I went to Bethesda Naval Hospital to give a fellow a Purple Heart, and at the same moment I watched him?get a Purple Heart for action in Iraq?and at that same?right after I gave him the Purple Heart, he was sworn in as a citizen of the United States?a Mexican citizen, now a United States citizen."?Washington, D.C., Jan. 9, 2004

More words of wisdom from our Commander-in-Chief.

Edit: It sounds hilarious if you read it out to yourself. ;)

He's actually gotten a little ahead of himself. That is where we are heading back towards but he and all the Democrats got it wrong because that has been deemed to be what is best for the Country to compete with all the other Countries paying both kids and adults 25 cents an hour for over 12 hours a day. The only puzzling part about it is how CAD, Economists and the President can say at the same time that the wages are the highest ever. I guess when you factor in the mega Millions the few Corporate Execs are getting must average out to that penny higher wage for all.

This is funny, but he not making a statement he was telling a story. Where I have a problem is these candidates are so determined to get elected they are willing to make broad statement like this and expect people to believe them when it clearly a false accusation. If Kerry meant to compare it to the 1970's or even the 1960's then he should have included it.
