I want to make sure my monitor is set to studio or tv colors, at 6500k and all that. It's not for me to use on the computer as much as it's because I want to use it to get a perfect white to calibrate my plasma tv with, since I'm trying to do that without buying anything expensive or paying anybody to do it. Is there any way to check my dell 2005 fpw--i know it's set to sRGB by default but I dunno if that means it's at 6500k or 9300k or something else.

Or if anyone knows a good way to get a 6500k light source, bulb, or something along those lines they could tell me that.

And yes I know I could mess my tv up and it would be better to pay a professional etc, etc, etc, so just skip that part if you want to tell me that.

Thanks

There are a variety of DVD's that can be bought for relatively little money that can be used to calibrate a TV. Digital Video Essentials, the Avia Guide to Home Theatre, or Sound and Vision's Home Theatre tune-up are all options I've seen recommended. If you don't want to buy anything else, the THX optimizer on THX certified DVD's is better than nothing.

Most PC monitors default to a 9300K color temperature. You ought to be able to change that with the builtin OSD monitor controls, usually under color temperature.
