I got a little info. on how to determine if a mobo includes "Soundstorm" but I could use some clarification please.

From the OCWForum MrDigital says "look carefully if your MoBo uses the powerfull MCP-T and if you MoBo has a digital audio out (SPDIF). This combo provides SoundStrom functionallity if Nvidia calls it like this or not..."

I'm assuming If I buy a mobo with MCP-T and SPDIF (with the proper backplate), I won't have to "add" or modify anything on the mobo. Correct?

Thanks,

Bud

If you are shopping for an nForce2, this may also help: nVidia's motherboard listing A model that is listed with Soundstorm certification will include the three elements of Soundstorm:
  • the MCP-T southbridge
  • at least one form of S/PDIF output jack
  • a certain level of audio fidelity that meets nVidia's requirement

My FIC AU13 came with both Soundstorm, as well at the good SPDIF bracket. Works great too, outputing to my front Bose 201s, rear Advents, and IBM sub-woofer.
