How can I use 2 monitors properly?

So I just installed a second monitor on my 9700 Pro using the DVI -> VGA adapter and now the second monitor just displays the same thing as my primary monitor. How do I get my second monitor to expand the desktop so I can use more screen space?

Try going under Video Device Settings --> Select the 2nd monitor, and click "Extend the Windows desktop on this monitor"
