How can I turn off "Complete PC Backup" in Vista?

I want to use the "Automatic file backup" function for Documents, Pictures, etc, but don't ever want to do a "Complete PC Backup" (no hard drive space). How can I get it to stop bugging me every week?

What exactly are you getting messages from? I've not seen any completepc backup reminders, so I'm wondering if you have some third party 'thing (e.g. HP, Dell, etc) that is doing that?

I'm pretty sure Dell and HP didn't put any crap on my computer since I built it myself. 🙂 About once a week (I'm assuming exactly once a week since that would kind of make sense), I get a little bubble from my Notification Area saying something along the lines of "It's time for a Complete PC Backup. When I click on it it opens up the "Backup Status and Configuration" window (you can also access this by clicking on "Change settings" from the "Backup and Restore Center" Control Panel). I can just choose to do it later, but I can't find a setting to turn off "Complete PC Backup" altogether.

Complete PC Backup will try to run, I believe, once per month. You would typically want to allow this so that executables get backed up. File backup does not backup programs at all (even if in your documents folder). Also Complete PC Backup will delta the previous backup so the size change will be minimal.

wbadmin or scheduled tasks is where I would look to turn this off. Never actually looked though; I think it would be a bad idea.

Huh...I've never seen that.

I've never seen that either. I did use the Complete PC Backup recently to create an image, but I had to manually run it.

Run a complete backup then schedule daily file backups. After 30 days (iirc) it will prompt and say it's been over 30 days since your last full backup and suggest you run one.
