How can I turn my PC to a DVR?

Creative Labs has a card to do just that, but it sucks. (I have one sitting in a drawer, $50 and it's yours) WinTV also has a card that I hear is much better with a better software bundle. Both record in MPEG2, but the WinTV doesn't managed to make it some funky version of MPEG2. To get back to the TV, you'll need a vidcard w/ TV out.

Creative Labs' card sucks, and likes to create broken/proprietary/funkified MPEG2 files. The WinTV doesn't.

The MPEG2 files created by the CL card effectively CANNOT be edited or converted, they can really only be played with CL's own application.
