How can I tell what "TYPE" of RAM I have?

OK, I know it sounds stupid. I KNOW I have Corsair XMS ram BUT..... When I went to PC Club I asked for Corsair XMS PC2700 and that is what the sales reciept says, however, when I got home, I noticed that the part number on the memory said "CMX512-3200C2PT" Now I know that according to the number on the heatsink it should be PC3200 which is 400 RAM instead of the PC2700 333 Ram I asked for. I am heppy with keeping what I have, but I am wondering if maybe it is "MISLABLED" My question is: Is there any way I can check ,other than looking at the part number, whether this is PC2700 "333" or PC3200 "400" RAM? How can I know for sure what I have other than the part number?

Also, does anyone know what the "PT" at the end of the part number stands for?

PT means platinum heatspreader (the shiny one instead of the black one)

it seems to me that indeed you got pc3200 ram...

You would have to remove the heat spreader. Look at the memory chips to see what its actual speed is.

if you do this, make sure you attach the heatspreaders on again with some good thermal conduction methods...not just slap it on again
