How can I tell if Win98 has been registered?

I know it's a strange question but I'm selling my old copy of Win98 upgrade and the buyer would like to know if it's ever been registered. I honestly have no idea since it is 2 or 3 years old and I don't remember. Other than just registering it and waiting for the "this copy has already been registered" message, is there another way to determine this?

when you try to update drivers and you try to update them throught the windows server. if it's not registered it won't let you get the drivers from the site. thre are programs that will make win98 think that it's registered.
