How can I tell if VIA 4in1 drivers are installed?

My friend has an Asus A7V, it is set up with dual boot Win98/Win2k. He downloaded the VIA 4in1 drivers, but he can't remember if he installed them or not. Is there an easy way to tell? I don't see anything listed under the Add/Remove Programs screen.

Also is it true that it is a bad idea to install all or a certain component of the VIA 4in1 drivers under Win2k? If it has been installed is there any way to uninstall it?

In Win98:

If you have a file named VIAGART.VXD in your \windows\system folder, you have successfully installed the AGP driver.

In Win2K & 98:

Look in device mangler for VIA BUS MASTER IDE CONTROLLER, VIA CPU to AGP CONTROLLER and check the driver details. If the provider is VIA, you installed them. If it is MS, the windows ones are in there.

To uninstall them, run the setup proggy again but select the uninstall box.

OK but is it true that under Win2k you should not install a certain component of the VIA drivers? I think I read that it was the IDE Busmastering drivers that caused problems with some IDE devices.

Been using Via 4 in 1 for a year with a Tyan Trinity (133a) and Win2K with flawless performance. I think I remember there was an issue with the AGP driver a while back that seems to have been resolved?

Pluto, true about the busmaster drivers, I used them with no trouble other than my ide drives are recognised as SCSI devices, others report problems with DVD,burners.

Best/easiest way to tell if you have them is...just install them!

I'm using the busmaster drivers. The only issue I see is that my ide drive is recognised as SCSI devices. I'm not having any trouble with my DVD or CD burner.
