how can i tell if my thermal paste is dried up?

i bought some Radio Shack gump the other day so i could see what it was like. i put a little bit on a P200 i have cracking rc5, and it was kind of liquidy at first. i took the heatsink off today, and it was a great deal thicker, but was still easy to move around. does this stuff dry up? it's silicon/zinc oxide paste i believe. i was going to use it on my future Duron, but if it dries up i may have to go for something a little more expensive(it would be a pain to get Arctic Silver because i'm in canada, and shipping from the states is a killer )

I have the same radio shack stuff. It dries up, but it is still functional, although not as good.

It'll dry up, but still work fine. it may need be a bit more work to remove if left to dry hard, but nothing rubbing alcohol can't do.
