how can i tell if my friends "super multi" burner can do DL dvds?

Download ImgBurn, it's free. Pick ANY mode when it starts up, let's just say write image file to disc. Make sure the drive in question is currently selected for burning shit to, and then do Tools -> Drive -> Capabilities. It'll show you all supported read/write media, and things like whether or not it can burn CD-Text.



EDIT: Also, by free, I mean completely freeware, no malware, nothing. It's DVD Decrypter's burn/read engine without the DVD decrypting part of it.
