How can I stop Windows from changing the volume???

SSP

Ok, this is pissing me off. Windows automatically lower the Wave volume sometimes when I play MP3's or videos. I don?t know why it does this, but does anyone know how to stop it? It gets pretty annoying when I have to open up volume control and increase it again, or increase it from my receiver.

Using XP (this happened in Win2k and 98 as well, and I?ve heard of others having the same problem), Sound Blaster ensonique.

It sounds as though your sound card's mixer is set for a lower volume by accident, and that all your programs are effected by it.
Or, if you are using winamp, the volume nob is turned down.

Try these things, it may be something stupid like that, if not let us know and we can move on from there 🙂

you know what else pisses me off the way windows opens up trillian when im not at home and chats with my friends. It just automattically does it.

I tried winamp to see if that change the volume, but it didn?t. I do remember the older versions changing the volume control (main volume control, not wave) real time as I changed the winamp volume (looked cool too. 😉). But the new ver. is not doing anything like that.

I don?t have any 3rd party mixer installed. It?s using the default windows drivers, so it didn?t install that gay ass ensonique mixer. 🙂

BTW, it?s also changing the CD volume, and I'm not even using any CD's. But I do reset it to max every time I change the wav sound control.

Weird.

Take your thread crapping and shove it up the ass. All the way up the ass.

Perhaps that "gay ass" ensoniq mixer would be able to regulate it better.
Sounds like bad drivers, try updating the drivers to the newer XP format rather than the other ones you said worked just fine with other windows OS's.

Go to your sound card's website and get the latest and see if that helps.

If you prefer you can g(aim) me at CorporateRec and discuss it. Might be easier than this thread which I give about 2 min before the mods move.

Goodluck
