My monitor is getting interference from the fans in my computer bigtime. I replaced my 7k rpm fan on my cpu with my older, slower fan, and the problem got a little better. Still, its present and i cant do much else about it. Can anyone reccomend a good sheilded case that isnt too expensive, or a way to shield the case ive got??

Here is a link to the thread about my monitor problem http:

Thanks

The easiest way is usually to move the computer away from the monitor. Of course, that's if you have the space. Otherwise, constructing a "faraday shield" around the monitor might help. That's basically a wire cage covering most of the monitor (except the screen, of course). I think the same should work if you put it around your case instead (although I'm not sure... my physics grade is still pending...). My question is, how can you stand a 7000 RPM case fan if it is so close to your monitor (and head)? Isn't it exceptionally loud?

Butch, I know exactly where to get EMI shielding cuz I just bought some.

Less EMF

lessemf.com sells tape, foil, sheets and everything else for EMI problems. I bought some from them because Im gonna use ceramic magnets in my case. SO I needed something to keep the megnetic field from getting to my components. I talked to a few electrical engineers. They said that shielding should do the trick. Turns out EMI and static magnetic fields can be shielded against in a similar fashion.
Hope the link helps

looks good, but its soo freakin expensive!! The sheild i would need for my monitor is like $800!!! No way i can afford that. Thanks though

so dont shield the moniter, shield the inside of the case.

If your EMI is coming from the fans or whatever, just put up a sheet of shielding on the inside of your panel. Just make sure the sheet covers the entire panel. Lot cheaper than shielding the moniter.
